FIXING LUKA SCOOPS LIMELIGHT HATTRICK

The Annual short Film awards that celebrates, promotes and identifies new and emerging film makers, took place last Thursday the 23rd June 2011 at the Troxy in East London. Referred to as the Oscar’s of short films, Limelight, is an annual short film competition followed by a red carpet awards ceremony with a £10,000 production award, attended by over 500 film makers from all over the UK, with TV/ Film personalities and high profile organisations.

The fourth round of Limelight saw Jessica Ashman become the first ever filmmaker to win three awards on the night. The Glasgow based filmmaker won the 'Best Animation,' 'Best Visual' and the prestigious 'Film of the Night' award along with a fantastic £10,000 production prize to her next project
.
Limelight 2011 saw a record number of entries with almost 200 films entered making the competition very fierce and giving the Judges, Aradhna Tayal (BBC Shorts), Martin Gooch (Harry Potter) and Peter Hewitt (London Metropolitan University) almost impossible decisions for the 14 awards.

The event itself was held at Troxy and saw a red carpet entrance along with a 'champagne and fine Indian cuisine' reception. The hilarious Kat (MTV Base and Choice FM) hosted the night keeping the 500 plus turnout very entertained, with his barely legal banter.

The award presenters for the different categories for Limelight were all high profile individuals from the Film, Entertainment and corporate world including Philip Barnard (The Cat In The Hat, Seven Years In Tibet), Cllr Mizanur Chaudhury (Lord Mayor of Tower Hamlets), Ameet Chana (Bend It Like Beckham), Tanya Vital (Emmerdale), Ben Peters (N-Dubz Director), Imran Akram (Brit Writers Awards) and Eve-Yasmine (Superstar Magazine, Britain’s Next Top Model).

There were also 4 fantastically talented performers who enthralled the crowd including Dance act 2 n' a Half Men who reached the Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finals, Rapper Shizzio hailed as the Asian Eminem, Ianna Harvey the modern version of Diana Ross and Crystal Palace FC’s Cheerleaders, The Crystals who kicked of the after party.

Thanks to everyone who entered and attended Limelight this year helping make Limelight 2011 the biggest yet. We are planning the forthcoming round along with our new web TV channel. to showcase the 600 plus films, with a whole host of new film making support. So stay tuned to limelightawards.com !
